BECKER TO OFFER STAND-UP COMEDY CLASSES FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NEW STAND UP COMEDY CLASSES OFFERED STARTING THIS NOVEMBER Comedian Kristen Becker ( Last Comic Standing, Doin’ Time Comedy Showcase) Is announcing a brand NEW stand up comedy course, designed to teach industry basics to those interested in pursuing comedy as a career or as a fun way to develop public speaking skills. Becker recently returned from a cross country Stand Up tour and is a working professional. She has been formally trained at the Humber School of Comedy, in Toronto, which boasts an impressive list of cohorts (Eugene Levy, Colin Mochrie and a few Kids In The Hall have sat on the Board of Directors) and professors (Robin Duke, of SNL fame, is one of many) In addition, and perhaps even more notable, Becker has been running the Doin’ Time comedy showcase, Buffalo’s longest running comedy open mic in the WNY area for the past 3 years, and is considered to be a driving force of the recent resurgence of comedy in the region. Recent graduates of Becker’s class have gone on to form the Rust Belt Comedy Tour And have been featured in GUSTO weekly arts paper Recent graduate Chet Wild says, "Kristen Becker’s comedy class will give you the instruction on comedy writing and confidence to get on stage that you need to ensure a funny first time on stage" Classes will include the basics of joke writing and performance, as well as introduction to the business of marketing yourself as a performer. The course will run 5 weeks, for $100, in downtown Buffalo, culminating in a graduation showcase to be held at Nietzsche’s Doin’ Time comedy showcase, and an audio recording of your set. Following the November session, classes will be scheduled regularly after the New Year, which makes the class a GREAT Christmas gift for someone you think should try Stand Up comedy!
